Vineland-III
Standardization Project |
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Pearson, the nation’s largest assessment materials publisher, is in the
process of updating the Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales,
with a new, third edition (Vineland–III). This is an opportunity
for you to participate in this project by being interviewed and/or by
completing a form about your child/dependent. The Morgens Group, in Wellesley, Massachusetts, is one of the sites
chosen to facilitate in the development of Pearson products. We
are committed to providing our community with the best assessment tools
and services available.
Before you can participate in this effort, you need to fill out a
simple, one-page Participation Request form by clicking on the
Wellesley Toy Shop logo
on the right. If after being selected, you complete the interview,
your child will receive a $10 gift card from The Wellesley Toy Shop, in
addition to $15 to $35 in compensation, depending on your child's age and the
form of the Vineland that is given. Thank you for participating in
this important standardization that will serve to help providers better
understand the social and adaptive behaviors of children. Please

details.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do you want my child to participate?
The
purpose of this study is to evaluate the new test, not to reach any
conclusions about your child/dependent. Based on the results of our
research, Pearson will create the final version of the test. All
information is kept strictly confidential.
What
will I or my child/dependent be asked to do?
You or
another parent or guardian who has daily contact with your child will be
interviewed at our offices in Wellesley and/or asked to complete a questionnaire about your child’s
personal and social skills. These forms will be completed online so it
is critical that you provide your e-mail address on the attached consent
form. If your child attends preschool, daycare, or regular school, your
child’s teacher or daycare provider may also be asked to fill out a
questionnaire about your child.
Will all applicants participate?
No. Pearson needs a certain number of children
with different demographics (gender, age group, education level, etc).
Once your Participation Request is submitted, an invitation to participate will be
made if your child's profile matches the study's current needs.
Will I get the test results?
No. Pearson is not able to give you a score for your
child because the test is still being developed. The results from your
child’s participation are used to make decisions about the final version
of the test.
Are you going to pay my child?
Yes. In exchange for your time, you and your child will receive a
$10 gift card from The Wellesley Toy Shop, in addition to $15 to $35 in
compensation, depending on your child's age and the form of the Vineland
that is given.
Will my information and my child’s information be kept
confidential?
All information you provide to Pearson is kept
confidential and is only used for research purposes. We do not sell or
give any of your or your child’s information to any outside group.
